The hospital, the founder, and the larger vision behind Heritage Living.
Heritage Living didn't begin with real-estate plans. It began with 15 years of patient care at Darshan Ayurveda Hospital in Mayanur — and a steady stream of patients asking the same question: can we live this routine, every day?

15 years of authentic Ayurvedic healing in Mayanur.
Darshan Ayur is a community-based hospital offering traditional Indian Ayurvedic healthcare to both domestic and international patients. From a small consultation clinic, it has grown into a fully equipped 10-bedded in-patient facility for Panchakarma, Abhyanga, Shirodhara and complete wellness programmes — nestled in the verdant surroundings of Mayanur, about 15 km from Karur.
The hospital's philosophy: treat the root cause, not just the symptom. Every treatment plan is built around restoring balance through diet, daily routine, herbal medicine and therapy.

Built from scratch — through difficult years, into a thriving practice.
Dr. Chithra Raghavan founded Darshan Ayur from the ground up. With a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) and over 27 years of clinical experience, she has dedicated her life to bringing the ancient science of Ayurveda into modern healthcare — one patient, one treatment plan at a time.
The early years weren't easy. Building an authentic Ayurvedic practice in a small town meant carrying every responsibility — clinical, operational and financial — almost single-handedly. Patients came in slowly. Trust had to be earned consultation by consultation. There were lean years.
After bringing together the right team of physicians, therapists and operations leaders, the practice has now entered a strongly positive phase — with steady patient flow, a 10-bed in-patient facility and a growing reputation across India and abroad.
A request that came directly from our patients.
Year after year, long-stay patients told us the same thing — they didn't want to leave. They wanted to live the daily Ayurvedic routine, not visit it for two weeks. Heritage Living is our answer.
Demand from patients
Long-stay patients consistently asked for a way to extend the Ayurvedic routine into their daily life — not return to old habits after discharge.
Adjacent to the hospital
We chose to build right next to Darshan Ayur — so wellness comes first, but expert hospital care is steps away when it's needed.
Backed by 27+ years of practice
Every wellness routine is shaped by what has actually worked in our consultation rooms — preventive Ayurveda for ageing well, refined over decades.
From one centre in Karur — to a multi-district network.
Heritage Living is the flagship of a much larger vision the team has been building in parallel: an AYUSH integrated OP network and a multi-district expansion across South India.
Based on demand from existing patients and families, the team is preparing to scale Heritage Living into multiple districts across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring South Indian states — keeping the same wellness-first standards everywhere.
In parallel, the team is building an AYUSH-integrated outpatient network — a coordinated system that connects Ayurvedic, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy practitioners with modern-medicine consultants under one care pathway.
Heritage Living, the AYUSH OP network, hospital expansion and physician training programmes are being built side-by-side — each reinforcing the other, each rooted in Dr. Chithra's original community-care philosophy.
A wellness home, not an old-age home — and not a hospital you live inside.
The clarity of what we're not is what protects the experience for the people who choose to live with us.
We don't sell real estate
There is no flat to buy, no property to inherit. Heritage Living is a wellness programme — a relationship, not a registry document.
We don't run a hospital ward
Darshan Ayur Hospital is steps away when needed. The campus itself stays calm, residential and quietly active — not clinical.
We don't isolate elders
No locked floors, no staff-to-resident ratios designed around frailty. Independence is the default; support arrives only on request.
What families usually ask us first.
The questions below come straight from conversations with prospective residents and their adult children — answered the way we'd answer them in person.
Who actually runs day-to-day care?
Dr. Chithra Raghavan leads clinical direction. The hospital team handles weekly consults and any treatment needs. A separate hospitality team — wellness coordinators, kitchen, housekeeping — runs the residential campus. Two teams, one philosophy.
Why build the wellness home next door to the hospital, instead of on a hill station?
Because real life with ageing bodies needs both — a calm daily routine and immediate access to expert care. A retreat in the mountains is a holiday. A wellness home next to a working Ayurvedic hospital is a way of living.
Is this only for people who are unwell?
No. The programme is built for active, healthy adults who want to age well — sleep better, move better, eat better, stay socially engaged. Many residents arrive in good health and stay that way longer because of the routine.
How is the AYUSH OP network connected to Heritage Living?
Both are projects of the same team. The OP network is being built as a wider community service across districts; Heritage Living is the residential anchor. Living here gives you priority access into that network as it grows.
Can I just visit before deciding?
Yes — and we'd prefer you did. Walk the campus, meet Dr. Chithra, share a meal, sit in on a yoga session. Decisions about where you live next deserve to be made in person.
The rest of the story lives across the site.
